After a long and frustrating wait, the THURAYA-3 satellite, owned and operated by the Thuraya Satellite Telecommunications Company of UAE, was successfully launched into orbit yesterday.
Originally postponed from November 2007 because of bad weather at the launch site, the satellite was lofted from the Sea Launch Odyssey Launch Platform at 11.49GMT.
The new satellite further cements Thuraya's position as a leading player in the global mobile satellite communications arena.
